“Sourced from a superlative couple of proprietary plots, each grown on its own rootstock. Matured in French (25% new) and older American oak. A step above the estate bottling in terms of the intensity of the sweet cherry and terracotta flavours. Savoury and medium of feel, despite the alcohol amping higher than the regional push toward brisker luncheon styles of yore (at least among the best makers). This said, the finish is long and scented with mulch, porcini and umami-laden beef bouillon. Warming. Moreish. A very nice drink.”
